It boiled down to something like a bunch of kids playing pretend and inventing super powers to counter the other super powers after yelling "nuh uh!" Also weird frequent adolescent admin drama. Edgy rambo rebels, edgy MPF officers who are all torture experts, etc. That dissolved because it always becomes a swirling shithole of hormonal kids trying to one up each other. I enjoy(Ed) Hl2RP for awhile a couple years ago, the serious mostly text based kind. Long story short: RP Has a bad name because the people who try to have fun with it ruin it for the Sweatys, so the sweatys push back, so the normies push back, it's a cycle. Later we were told that everyone thought we were being sexist for leaving. It got so annoying we left team speak and the regiment.

Additionally, at least for us, when a "gamer grill" joined our regiment every member went full white knight mode. So when you break this routine to have fun, you get reprimanded. They sit on these servers for hours doing nothing. This is because throughout the day, there are 2, one hour long events. My friends and I dubbed the majority of the players as "Sweaty". What I experienced on Star Wars RP servers is absolutely different. That's just part of life on DarkRP servers and it's beautiful. The have shenanigans and run around and, you know what, at the end of the day they probably get banned for Mass RDM. I prefer DarkRP for the reason that most people there don't "RP". It's not even the concept of roleplay I find cringey, it's the people. Heres the thing though: Despite all that I still consider RP absolutely full of cringe, Star Wars RP most of all.
It set a precedent that was a "Serious RP" server.

In the server I was on, they made me and all my friends go through like 15 minutes of training where they went over minging, FailRP, different ranks, different formations, how to shoot properly, and then we ran through each and every formation. You then have stuff like Star Wars RP, which is a whole different beast.
This is usually what happens in DarkRP servers because there is no real precedent thats pushed at the start to convince people to do "Serious RP". Heres my take: When you have something like DarkRP, been around forever, easy to pick up and understand, you find yourself in group of people who for the most part, are there to goof off with their friends.
